The drive motor is an important link in the new energy vehicle industry chain. The motor drive control system is the main execution structure during the operation of new energy vehicles. The drive motor and its control system are one of the core components of new energy vehicles (battery, motor, electronic control). Its driving characteristics directly determine the main performance indicators of the vehicle, such as climbing ability, acceleration, and maximum speed, making it a crucial component of electric vehicles. Taking the mainstream permanent magnet synchronous motor as an example, the motor mainly consists of a stator, rotor, and mechanical structure, with the key components being the stator and rotor.
1. The flattening of motor wires brings a new round of technological iteration, and the penetration rate of flat wire motors is expected to increase rapidly in the future.

Permanent magnet synchronous motors and AC asynchronous motors have become the mainstream choices in the passenger car field. The permanent magnet in permanent magnet synchronous motors refers to the addition of permanent magnets during the manufacturing of the motor rotor, which further enhances the motor's performance. This is also the biggest difference between permanent magnet synchronous motors and AC asynchronous motors. The term 'synchronous' means that the rotor speed in the motor is always consistent with the current frequency of the stator winding. In contrast, in AC asynchronous motors, the rotor is always 'chasing' the speed of the stator's rotating magnetic field, and in order to cut the magnetic induction lines and generate induced current, the rotor speed is always slower than the speed of the stator's rotating magnetic field, resulting in asynchronous operation, hence the term asynchronous induction motor.
Permanent magnet synchronous motors and AC asynchronous motors each have their own advantages. Permanent magnet synchronous motors have high torque density, power density, and efficiency, as well as good speed regulation performance, along with advantages of small size and light weight. However, they are not without drawbacks; in addition to cost issues related to materials, they can experience magnetic decay at high temperatures, which is why small and medium-sized pure electric vehicles cannot sustain high-speed cruising for long periods. In contrast, AC asynchronous motors have advantages such as simple structure, high reliability, good high-speed performance, and acceleration performance. This is why some performance-oriented electric sports cars and mid-to-large SUVs prefer them, such as the Tesla Model S, Model X, and NIO ES8. However, their drawbacks include lower torque density, power density, and efficiency density, along with issues of larger size, heavier weight, and higher heat generation. Overall, it can be understood that electric vehicles equipped with permanent magnet synchronous motors have relatively better range, while those equipped with AC induction motors have better acceleration performance.
